While the social media and various other current factors may have an impact for reading to be less attractive, the Qrendi Primary School is making efforts so that its students will love reading and making them explore their talent in creative writing.

“When I grow up I want to either write books or be an architect. I mostly prefer an architect, however I still consider writing books”, Krystle Borg said. Another student Jordan Farrugia said: “My dream is to be a creative and famous writer, and publish books that interest people”. Mark Spiteri says that he is fascinated by reading and also wants to be a famous writer.

These students’ dreams were given due importance with an original idea by one of the educators at the Qrendi Primary School. Marisa Abela said, “The idea to have a reading corner in the school came up because there was a space used as a store which we didn’t need. So the idea was to use this space as a reading corner”.

This reading corner which was used for the first time by students and their parents is helping to arouse students’ love for reading.
